About me
Hi, I’m Bex Egan, the founder of Grow Mama, and I live in Ripon, North Yorkshire with my husband and our two children.
Pregnancy and birth have fascinated me for as long as I can remember. The journey into motherhood is profound — it changes how you see your body, yourself, and the world around you. It can feel exciting, overwhelming, joyful, and vulnerable all at once. I believe this time deserves to be held with care, honesty, and deep respect.
I studied Anthropology, specialising in women’s health, at Durham University, before going on to work with young people and families in challenging circumstances. When I stepped away from work to have my son, my own experience of pregnancy and early motherhood shifted something in me. I realised I wanted to support women through this life-changing chapter in a more meaningful, personal way — not by telling them what to do, but by helping them feel informed, supported, and truly heard.
I retrained in Antenatal and Doula Education with NCT and the University of Worcester, and have continued to learn from leaders in birth and postnatal care, including Sophie Fletcher, Molly O’Brien, and Lyndsey Hookway. Every course I teach is shaped not only by evidence, but by compassion, lived experience, and a deep belief in women’s wisdom.
At the heart of Grow Mama is the belief that when women are listened to, respected, and supported to make their own choices, birth can be a powerful and empowering experience — whatever path it takes. My hope is that you leave feeling calmer, more confident, and less alone, knowing you have the tools, knowledge, and support to meet whatever your journey brings.
Grow Mama is about more than birth preparation. It’s about feeling nurtured, held, and supported as you step into motherhood — because birth matters, and so does everything that comes after.
Based in Ripon, North Yorkshire.
